Community Organizations to Canister in Crooksville This May

During the April 14 Council Workshop Meeting, members unanimously approved requests from two local organizations to canister in town. Lindsey Bolyard, representing the Crooksville High School cheerleading program, will canister on May 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the intersections of Buckeye Street/Main Street and China Street/Main Street.
Additionally, Skyla Willaman from the Perry County Theatre Association will canister on May 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Council members Mr. Hampton and Mr. Loomis emphasized ensuring these events do not overlap with the Fire Department’s boot drive.
Beaumont Building Renovations Near Completion

Exciting progress is being made at the Beaumont Building, according to updates at the Village Council’s recent workshop. Lacey Tumblin praised the renovation work done by Mr. Willet, noting that the building “looks really nice.” The doors have been installed, with only glass installation by Modern Glass pending.
The Council also discussed adding gravel parking spots in the area for those visiting local businesses like Peach’s Place. Mayor Mohler suggested starting with a section at the top of the hill and placing barricades to prevent vehicles from driving over the edge.
Parks See New Equipment and Improvements Ahead of Summer Season

Crooksville’s park is receiving updates just in time for warmer weather. Mrs. Tumblin reported that crews have begun installing new playground equipment. The council approved a quote of $1,500 for playground mulch and just under $4,000 for plastic border timbers.
Mayor Mohler also mentioned a desire to get quotes for stump grinding at the park. He happily noted that the pickleball courts are seeing use, and Mr. Loomis asked about replacing basketball nets—a request Mrs. Tumblin will follow up on.
Village Utility Billing System Transition Set for December

Crooksville’s Utility Billing Department is preparing to switch from the current SSI system to VIP software. The council was informed that the go-live date is targeted for December. Mrs. Tumblin provided a brief update during the April 14 meeting and will continue to report on progress in the months ahead.
Sewer Pump Replacement and Community Cleanup Day on the Horizon

The B2 Sewer Pump Station is in need of a new pump, with a quote of $21,588 presented to Council by Mrs. Tumblin. The need for replacement was acknowledged, though further discussion will likely follow.
Mayor Mohler also announced plans for a community cleanup day in collaboration with Sidwell’s, ideally to be held before Memorial Day. Mrs. Tumblin will work with village staff to set a date.month, and the top players are expected to participate.
