10/06/25

The Crooksville Village Council met on Monday, October 6, 2025, with Mayor  Mohler presiding. Council members present were Mr. Hampton, Mr. Locke, Mr. Loomis, Mr. Redfern, and Mr. Walters. Ms. Smith was absent.

During the meeting, several key financial resolutions were approved unanimously. Council passed Resolutions 91-2025 through 95-2025, which covered interfund transfers, Star Ohio account transfers, reallocations and supplemental appropriations, the payment listing, and payroll reports.

Administrator Lacey Tumblin also presented the village’s financial and fiscal reports, which were approved by council. These approvals help ensure that village accounts remain balanced and that all departmental funding is properly distributed heading into the end of the fiscal year.

Crooksville’s Pool is one step closer to a major rehabilitation project. During the October 6th council meeting, officials approved Resolution 90-2025, authorizing an agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) under the Parks & Recreation Improvement Fund Grant.

The grant provides $65,000 toward the total cost of the baby pool renovation, which is now projected at $169,400. The remaining balance will be paid from the village’s Parks & Pool Star Ohio account.

“This project will provide much-needed updates to the community’s pool facilities and continue to make our park system a point of pride for Crooksville,” stated Administrator Lacey Tumblin.

Council also addressed several staffing matters in the Safety Department. Resignations from Lisa McGee, Creed Milner, and Tiara Milner were approved unanimously.

Fire Chief Newlon reported that two individuals recently withdrew from scheduled training classes, costing the village $1,600 for one class and $250 in book fees for the other. To prevent future financial loss, Newlon proposed implementing a training reimbursement or agreement policy, requiring trainees to sign a commitment before attending paid classes.

Council supported the idea, and Newlon said he would begin drafting an agreement immediately.
