At the June 2nd Crooksville Village Council meeting, several financial measures were approved unanimously by the attending council members. With Mayor Mohler presiding, and council members Mr. Locke, Mr. Loomis, Ms. Smith, and Mr. Walters present, the body moved swiftly through the finance agenda.
Council approved Resolution 52-2025, authorizing interfund transfers, followed by Resolution 53-2025 allowing for STAR Ohio transfers, and Resolution 54-2025 which confirmed the village’s latest payment listing. Additionally, Resolution 55-2025 passed, approving payroll reports for village employees.
All votes were carried with no opposition, while Mr. Hampton and Mr. Redfern were absent from the meeting.
Crooksville Council has taken the first step in amending the village’s employee pay scale. During the June 2nd meeting, Ordinance #2747 passed its first reading with unanimous support from those in attendance. The ordinance aims to update pay rates for village employees, though specific changes have not yet been detailed publicly.
This marks the beginning of a legislative process that will require further readings and approvals before final implementation.
As summer temperatures climb, Crooksville is making sure its pool is well staffed. The Village Council approved the hiring of Alexia VanMeter as a lifeguard at a rate of $10.70 per hour during the June 2nd meeting. The motion passed unanimously among attending members.
VanMeter will help ensure the safety of pool visitors throughout the season, continuing the village’s commitment to maintaining a safe and enjoyable recreational environment for local families.
The Crooksville Village Council formally accepted the resignation of Dyrall Newlon from the position of Assistant Fire Chief at their June 2nd meeting. The motion was made by Mr. Walters and seconded by Mr. Loomis, receiving unanimous approval.
The council did not provide additional details regarding Newlon’s resignation, but his years of service were recognized and appreciated by village leadership. It is currently unclear when a replacement will be appointed.
