
Crooksville Council Reviews Financial Reports, Approves Multiple Resolutions
The Crooksville Village Council met Monday, October 20, 2025, with Mayor Mohler calling the meeting to order. Council members Mr. Locke, Mr. Loomis, Mr. Redfern, and Ms. Smith were present, while Mr. Hampton and Mr. Walters were absent.
Council quickly moved through a series of financial approvals. The Fiscal Officer’s minutes and financial reports were approved unanimously by all present members. Council also accepted the September 2025 Bank Reconciliation and the Mayor’s Court Report.

Crooksville Fire & EMS Adds Two New Members
Public safety staffing saw progress during the October 20 council meeting as members unanimously approved the hiring of two EMS personnel.
• Joanna Gillman was approved to join Crooksville Fire/EMS at a rate of $11.50 per hour.
• Emily Makin was approved to join EMS, also at $11.50 per hour.
The approvals come as part of the village’s effort to maintain adequate staffing and ensure timely emergency response for residents. Council’s votes were unanimous among those present.
Village Solicitor Jan Baughman also reported that she is continuing work on Fire/EMS training agreements and contract templates, noting “some progress” in recent weeks.

Two Building Permits Approved for Village Residents
Two new building permits received approval at the Monday council session, signaling continued small-scale residential development within the village.
Council approved permits for:
• 308 China Street
• 403 Elizabeth Street
All utilities for both properties were checked and verified before approval. The motions passed unanimously.
The approvals allow homeowners to move forward with planned improvements or construction, contributing to ongoing property upgrades throughout Crooksville.

Attendance Gaps Noted as Council Moves Through Business Efficiently
Although council members Mr. Hampton and Mr. Walters were absent, the remaining four members were present and able to pass all motions brought before the body.
