
Crooksville Moves Trick-or-Treat to Last Sunday of October Permanently

Crooksville families can begin planning ahead for Halloween festivities with more certainty. During the Council Workshop Meeting held on October 27, 2025, council members agreed to formally set Trick-or-Treat each year for the last Sunday in October.
The idea was introduced by Lacey Tumblin, who noted that the issue had been discussed previously and that establishing a permanent date would eliminate yearly confusion. Council members unanimously agreed.
This decision now places Crooksville among the growing number of communities moving Trick-or-Treat to a consistent day each year for safety and convenience.

Village Considering Annual Veterans Day Parade

Mayor Mohler is exploring the possibility of launching a yearly Veterans Day Parade for the Village of Crooksville. During Monday’s workshop meeting, he asked council members how they felt about establishing the event either on Veterans Day itself or the Saturday beforehand.
The idea received a positive response, and Mayor Mohler said he plans to speak with Dorothy Goebel, as well as local organizations including the American Legion and VFW, to see whether a parade can be organized.
If successful, the annual event would honor local veterans while adding another community tradition to the village calendar.

Shelly Company to Begin Milling on Winter Street

Roadwork in Crooksville will continue this week. Mayor Mohler announced that Shelly Company contacted the village earlier in the day and confirmed that milling on Winter Street will begin on Wednesday.
This work marks another step in ongoing infrastructure improvements throughout the village. Further details about paving or closures will be released as the project progresses.

Christmas Parade Set for November 25; Date to Become Annual Tradition

The holiday season will officially kick off in Crooksville on November 25, when the village hosts its annual Christmas parade and turns on its holiday lights.
According to Lacey Tumblin, Crooksville plans to standardize the event date moving forward. Starting this year, the Christmas parade will always be held on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Preparations are currently underway, and more information about parade participation will be shared soon.

Park Entrance Wall Quote Presented; Recreation Programs Boost Revenue

Council reviewed a quote from OK Coal for materials needed to construct the new entrance wall at the village park. The current estimate stands at $4,489 for materials only. Tumblin noted that it is not ideal to begin construction at this time but wanted council to have the numbers in hand.
Tumblin also distributed a spreadsheet highlighting revenue generated from recent recreation programs, including basketball open gym, organized by Trevor Miller, and the climbing wall, coordinated by Molly Lones. These programs continue to support park improvements, including Tumblin’s ongoing goal of adding more trees within the park.

Beaumont Lot Clean-Up Improves Appearance, Helps Parking

Council briefly discussed the recent clean-up at the Beaumont area, noting that the property now looks significantly better. The space has been cleared for parking, providing an improved appearance and more practical use for the community.

Water Line Replacement Needs Remain Urgent and Costly

Councilman Redfern raised concerns about aging water infrastructure, specifically the stretch of old steel and galvanized water lines running from the old water plant toward town. According to Redfern, the replacement project “should have been done in 2019” and still needs addressed.
Tumblin emphasized that completing this project will require substantial grant funding due to its high cost. The issue will likely remain a major topic during upcoming budget and infrastructure discussions.

Neighborhood Improvement Program Targets Sidewalks and Junk Vehicles
